A Flag Without A Country – Is The Film Worth Viewing?
If you reside in the Middle East, it is highly likely that you’ve learned about the work of Bahman Ghobadi. Ghobadi is widely known for his wish to cover the plight of children in war situations. His newest documentary, A Flag Without a Country, follows two individuals, who reach out to Kurdish refugees and attempt to offer assistance to these people. One of the subjects of the film is a singer, while the other is a pilot. Surprisingly, it is the latter, Nariman Anwar, who becomes far more engaging than his singing counterpart.
During the film, the viewer will be able to relive one of Nariman’s biggest and best known exploits, as he lands his plane in a crowded space, during the 2013 Iraqi Kurdistan parliamentary elections. After delivering a heartfelt speech, Nariman returned to his plane, made his escape and crashed on the way out. Thankfully, he survived and went on to tell his tale. Another great aspect of this movie is the awesome soundtrack. Each song has been carefully selected and all of them work in correlation to set a bleak mood and atmosphere. It is incredibly effective and enhances the movie greatly.
All in all, A Flag Without A Country is an amazing documentary, which needs to be viewed by everyone that is interested in the plight of the Kurdish refugees. The time of the release makes the documentary even more impactful than imaginable. If you’re looking for an excellent documentary to watch this weekend, A Flag Without a Country is definitely worth checking out!
