Ericsson And Image Nation Abu Dhabi Team Up For Launch Of New Arabic TV Channel
In September of 2015, Ericsson made a huge announcement, which set the Arabic world alight. The group revealed that they had entered into a multi-year contract with Image Nation Abu Dhabi, which is one of the biggest content creators in the Middle East. The two companies intend to begin providing consumers with access to a brand new, free-to-air television service. The new television channel, Quest Arabiya, will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2015. It will be available 24 hours each day to those living in North Africa and the Middle East region.
So, what will the channel bring? Well, it is expected that the channel will deliver a combination of original content, as well as content from Discovery’s massive library of informative television shows. This is the not the first time Ericsson has attempted to dip into the Middle Eastern market. In earlier 2015, the company partnered with twofour54. Due to the partnership, Ericsson setup a media hub within the UAE. This will give them the ability to effectively serve consumers residing in and around the Middle East.
The Head of Ericsson’s Broadcast and Media Services admitted that there was a huge desire for original, Arabic content in the Middle East. The company hopes that their venture with Image Nation will give them the ability to satisfy those cravings, while benefiting in the process. Ericsson has been in the television industry for over 20 years and they’ve helped to shape television technology substantially. Now, they’ve set their sights on the Middle East and the sky is truly the limit.
