Extreme Sports Entertainment Coming To UAE Thanks To Abu Dhabi Television
Within the past year, Abu Dhabi Media has gone above and beyond to bring new, innovative and exciting content to residents of the UAE and nearby areas. If you’ve been keeping up with the changes, you’ll agree that ADM has expanded in a big way and they’re far from finished. The group’s next move focuses on bringing extreme sports to the area. Abu Dhabi Media launched the EDGE Sport HD Channels in May of 2015. The channel is focused entirely on high intensity, extreme sports, such as skateboarding, kiteboarding and surfing.
The channel is a collaboration of sorts between ADM and the global media group, IMG. Once the channel is released, it will officially become the first English-language network available from the Abu Dhabi Television Network. Aside from the aforementioned sports, the EDGE Sport Channel will also provide coverage of the 2016 European Championship, Arabian Gulf League, and programming from World Wrestling Entertainment.
The channel will remained encrypted and will only be available to subscribers of Abu Dhabi TV. ADM has done a wonderful job securing rights to over 50 live events, which will be broadcasted on the new channel. The channel also owns the rights to over 500 hours of sports content from some of the biggest leagues, including BMX, the World Snowboard Tour, World Surf League and the World Rallycross Championship.
The executive director of television at ADM revealed that the channel was part of the group’s intention to ensure that the very best content is capable of reaching all audiences. He concluded by admitting that they’re focusing on keeping up with current trends, while hoping to set trends of their own in the future.
